I had to grind down the side of it slightly.  Bare metal is exposed.  What do I use to protect it from getting rust?

Im about to do the same thing and my intent is to spray it down with Rustoleum high temp (BBQ) black spray paint.  Mine will be covered by a quad rail so it won't be as highly visible and I'm thinking the rustoleum high temp will work just fine.

I would assume you could also get some of the gun black touch up if you wanted to do it that way.

I second the BBQ paint.  My chopped down via dremel FSB was neutered to fit under a MI free float tube.  BBQ paint still holding strong after 1000's of rounds.

Looks like way too much work and expensive just to do a FSB.  I could get a brand new FSB cheaper....

Unless someone already has all the equipment and supplies.  Know anyone near Seattle?  I dont need the entire FSB blasted, i dont think.  I just need the lower part on 1 side done.

Too late.  I picked up a can of High-temp spray.  If that doesnt work, I'll go another route later down the road.
