O.K. I just got done looking at DPMS, Rock River and J&T. If I am right I can get an A2 for $439 kit from DPMS and then buy their striped reciever for $179 and have every thing I need. RRA saves me $20 on the reciever. Bushmaster would be $184. So my question is, the kit and one of the recievers, mag and ammo and I am shooting? That is minus the tools of course. My friend is a dealer and will give me the stuff for what he pays for it. So prices will vary some. Am I right?

Getting a kit from J&T or DPMS or someone else is a good start for a first build. But look around for a deal on a stripped lower, should be around $100. Also check-out the EE.

That's $79 too much, even for a DPMS...Your dealer friend should be able to get you a DPMS stripped lower for ~110 (in my recent experience)...

He probably can. I have not checked with him yet. I am just going off their retail list on the website. I figure use all their parts. Now I just need to be sure I want a 16 inch and not a 20. My shooting should never be over 300 yards. The range I shoot at only goes to 150. Can't hunt with a semi here in PA. so I figure a 16 should be plenty.

Quantico Arms has stripped Eagle lowers on special now for $100, FWIW. That's the lowest price I've seen lately for a name brand receiver.

I bought an awesome stripped lower for 89 +tax at a fun show.

What you are missing is just the fact that with a home build, for personel use, there is no excise tax.
