[ARCHIVED THREAD] - What buffer for CavArms lower

That's it. What buffer/spring should I use? It will have a Rock River 16" lightweight middie on it.

i use a std CAR/H-buffer and carbine spring...

I have had good luck with the DPMS heavy buffer.
Standard buffers haven't worked well for me in Cav Arms lowers.
I also use Heavy recoil springs.

So definitely a carbine length buffer, though, not rifle?

With a midlength upper on it I expect that a standard carbine buffer and spring will work fine, and save you a bit of weight over a heavy buffer.

When I got mine a couple of months ago, I posted on the CavArms thread, asking this question of CavArms. They replied that the Mk II lower MUST use a carbine spring and buffer. I have a 20" upper on mine, and the regular carbine buffer was too light. I ended up going with a Colt 9mm buffer and a regular carbine spring, and everything is good to go.
