I have a Del-ton kit on order and I'm in Connecticut with a post-ban lower receiver so I know I've got to pin my stock and pin my muzzle device (which can absolutely NOT be a flashhider, only a brake or compensator by CT state law).
The question is this. Del-ton only shows about a dozen or so muzzle devices as options and out of those, only a few I think would pass the Connecticut test of not being a flashhider. My preference was at first the DPMS panther comp. with holes rather than slots. Although the slots might act as a better compensator, I honestly don't think recoil is a major issue on a .223 and I liked holes not slots, what can I say. My second choice is the YHM Phantom Comp/Brake. Anyway, in the hometown forum, a very nice gentleman informed me that that particular DPMS Panther with holes muzzle device is a noisy SOB and advised against it. Can anyone else confirm, deny or otherwise attest to the obnoxious nature of this particular muzzle device? I am also open to other suggestions but I want to limit it to something Del-ton currently offers. I know there are loads of other muzzle devices out there but Del-ton will do the job of perm. attaching for me before sending my rifle kit so it's a big headache saver if I just use something they have. Please help wise ones. Rob |
