What size of patch do you use cleaning your AR?  I bought some small round patches that were labeled for .22 cal.  But they seem to small to me, they go though the barrel very easy.  They don't feel like they are putting much pressure on the inside of the barrel.

What size is best? Square or round?

Screw those things. Get a boresnake.

The round 1 inch patches pushed through on a jag work well for me.
If you are using an eylet, try using two patches at a time.

I think I use 1 3/4" patches on my wrap-around jags. These are far better than the spear type and if I were you, this is what I would use. You get more patch in the bore than with the spear type.

Pro Shot 6-7mm rifle patches work great if you're using a patch loop.
