| How different can 2 to 1 point slings be from each other? I'm looking at the Emdom gunslinger, the MS3, and a couple others. Are they all essentially the same? How different can they be? |

The difference is how they connect to the rifle a single point is just that it is attached to the rifle with a single point. When you take your hands off the rifle it will hang straight down. A two point connects to the rear of the rifle but also uses a point up on the hand guard to hold the rifle in a more ready position.
Not the best description but this should give you the idea. |

I think you guys are taking this the wrong way. I mean 2-1 point slings, like the MS3, what is the difference between it and another 2-1 point sling. Thank you for the answers though. The difference is in specific features - while the concept is the same - the conversion interface is a big one: is it a snap shackle? A QD? There are different options and different interfaces - is it a triglide attachement like the IWC? Is it a "hook joint" like the MagPul MS series? Is there a seperate "D" ring? On top of that, what kind of webbing? How thick? Bungee? Padding? What kind of adjustment systen? Where is it located in 2PT? 1PT? Does it adjust quickly and easily on the fly from both positions? Can you bail out of it? Is it a friction lock? Does the adjustment webbing get in the way of anything? Different slings just have different combinations and people have their preferences for a certain set of attachments / adjustments / features. ~Augee |

When I first started looking for a sling, I asked the same thing.... There are a lot of options out there and price range varies. Once you have run some or even handled or inspected up close, you will see the differences in materials and configurations. I myself wasted quite a bit of money in the beginning due to stubbornness. In the end, I finally ended up with the Gunslinger. I like the D ring option and it's wide shoulder area (like old style seat belt material), combined with it's configuration and quality construction, this sling was for me. Not trying to sell you on it, only sharing my experience/opinion. I do like the looks of the new MS3 (have not tried or handled one in person yet)...however I was not a fan of the MS2 due to material and narrow width of the sling. Guess Magpul listen to the customers. Best advice I know to give, is save yourself some money and spend some time in the Sling section and Slings tacked pic thread. Trust the advice of the board here when it comes recommendations. Chances of the majority members steering you in the wrong direction is slim to none.
Note: Edit to correct spelling |

Note: Edit to correct spelling Basically lookin for a good 2-1 convertable sling. But this is my first AR so im not real sure about different attatchment points. Right now i have the standard one on my 6 position buttstock and the standard one on the upper. Not sure what works best and if i need a SLAP plate and a mount for my MOE handguard. Or if it depends on the slings. Or just get the VCAS or VTAC since everyone keeps talkin about em. |

You could try the 2 point sling of your choice and adding one of these to make it convertible http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/2-to-1-point-triglide-threads-into-your-sling-and-makes-it-convertible/ Also depends how much you want to spend. For the record, I went with an Emdomm gunslinger also, just got it around christmas time so I haven't had a chance to give it a thorough workout. I like it so far though. |
