I am having trouble choosing what caliber upper to get.  I want something that has more knock down power than 556 but uses a std lower. Just don't know which to pick that will have the most support/selection in the future. I would pick the 300blk but its to much like a 30-30 for my liking.

Any new calibers coming on the market worth looking at?

What do you want to do with it?   That will help us answer the question.  Hunting, suppressed, target, paper plinking, etc.

The three main ones to choose from are 300 Blackout, 6.5 Grendal and 6.8 SPC.    They each have their ups and downs.  I suggest those three as they have the largest following/support/availability.

I think you pretty much summed it up. I'm a 68 guy myself but hey the 65 and 68 are both good and the 300 will do great especially supressed.

I will want to take hunting/plinking more than anything. But would shoot some targets if the chance occurred.
