I have been beyond impressed with the Geissele super duty uppers I have seen lately.

Due to the BCG and the accuracy, I'd take that over anything else in that price range with zero questions asked.

If mostly or dedicated suppressed, then Sionics and Overt Industries are good options.

I would add the DD RIII and KAC SR15 CQB to the top of the list with the Geissele Near Clone URG-I.

I bought an 11.5” upper built by RifleSpeed with a Criterion Core barrel, Geissele rail, and their quick adjust gas system. I have a YHM Turbo K with the direct thread adapter that I leave on and was shocked at how little gas I get to the face. It’s basically none and I’m left handed. I think it’s well worth the added cost and the minor maintenance required of the RifleSpeed system.

Profile does make a difference.  I have an 11.5" Geissele Duty upper that I bought when they first came out.  It has a pretty thick barrel and it is noticeably heavier than my other 11.5" guns.

Part of that is the rail. The MK16 isn't light. I built a 12.5" upper with a Criterion Core barrel and Geissele tabbed upper with rail chopped to 11.75". I swapped to a Geissele barrel and there wasn't much if any of a noticeable shift in balance. However, a lighter and/or shorter rail definitely makes a difference.

ETA: However, both of the above barrels balance WAY better than a gov't profile.

PSA premium, exactly.  Then use the extra dollars to buy ammo.

LMT MARS-L Upper, you can go carbine or mid-length as well as varying calibers...I swapped out the 16" (carbine) barrel in favor of a 12.5" mid-length.
