Hi

Any suggestions as to which 1x4 scope I should use?  Im using a Noveske 14.5 1/7 barrel.

I heard mixed reviews about the Millet DMS, with the negative being the bad parallax.

Any other suggestions?  How about the models from Trijicon (Accupoint), Nightforce, Schmidt & Bender, or Leupold?

Thanks

All of the optics you listed are great. Each one has good quality glass and are built to last(not first hand experience, but what I've gathered from my time here).

I would base my decision on which reticle I want and what eye relief the optic has. I like the Accupoint, but from what I've heard, it's nearly impossible to get the optic far enough away, even with a LaRue SPR-E, to shoot NTCH.

We seem to do this every week or so.  It is simple, if you can afford them either the S B short dot, or the MeOpta K Dot.

I'm also waiting to see what the Vortex and IOR will be like.  They both sound promising.

Heres my review of the TR21G. Its not a true 1-4 but I like how it blurs out the front sight

What he said.

If you get the S&B, get the Zenith Short Dot 1.1-4x24, not the previous model (...x20)

The new Valdada 1x/4x is supposed to arrive in June.  I've read that it's pretty top notch, but will likely come with the price tag that'll put it out of reach for a lot of users.  I'm waiting just to see.

Appreciate all your input.

Im leaning more towards the a scope in the $500-$1000 range, so the accupoint and meopta look like good bets.

Anyone have experience with the ior valdada 1.5-8x26 scopes?

Thanks

then I would definitely wait to see what the new IOR is like.

What would you be using it for? Plinking, target shooting, 3gun, HD, zombies?

$500-$1000 range? Easy

Burris XTR-14: quick & easy at 1x with both eyes open, illuminated horseshoe for low light, & @ 4x bdc reticle.

Weaver Classic Extreme is the best deal going at the moment:

Swift 1.5-4.5x32 if you're on a budget.  SWFA carries them.
Nice reticle - low profile target knobs - compact - good light gathering

I just scored a Elcan SpectorDR from a Botach Tactical on *gasp* Gunbroker for $1600.

Now I just gotta see if they will ship to my APO or if I'll have to have it shipped to my folks who will send it in an insured care package.

I'll be sure to post a review when I have it in hand and how it does around here over the next 6-9 months

The Burris XTR is a good option.  I have a review on one in the optics forum and one for sale in the EE.

+1

The FFP Short Dots render the illuminated dot unusable at 4x. The later SFP models are much more usable throughout the magnification range.

FFP in a 1-4x scope is a waste.

Keep in mind, thought, that the Short Dot is a HEAVY SOB. Check out the combination of a TA33 compact ACOG with an offset RDS (like the Aimpoint T-1) as a lightweight alternative.

I guess there is something to be said for having four sighting systems on one weapon...

Well, the config is an option that splits what a 1-4x or 1-3x scope does, with much less weight involved. Sometimes it's OK to think outside the box...

Thanks for all your input.

I just want an all around optic for my rifle.  Maybe use it for competition, plinking, and killing zombies.

The Burris XTR seems like a good option but the deal on the Weaver is hard to beat.

Any parallax issues with these scopes?
