I currently have a Eotech 552 mounted on a Colt HBAR II.  I am thinking about ditching the Eotech and getting an ACOG.  Which model do you recommend and why?

TA-11 of some sort.

I prefer the longer eye relief.

I sold my TA-31 solely because of the short eye relief.

Good Luck

I just went through this whole thing.  I spent many hours of research, and I chose TA33G-H.

TA11 - Excellent Eye Relief, Good Field of View, Huge / Heavy  ACOG
TA31 - Very Short Eye Relief, Great Field of View, Small and Compact ACOG
TA33 - Good Eye Relief, Smaller Field of View, Small and Compact ACOG (Least Expensive $823 at Calssportingarmory)

Green - shows up great for me
Horeseshoe - Supposedly a little faster for some / looks neat.

I looked through several, I didn't want the TA31 because of poor eye relief.  I didn't want the TA11 because it was so big.  My second choice would have been the TA11

This is a summary of what I discovered / learned.

+1 for the TA33, the TA11 is HUGE. Forget the TA31 unless you like your nose on top of the ch.

I think people way over emphasize the size and weight of the TA-11 series. Everybody says they are "huge" and "heavy" but lets be realistic for a minute.

The TA-11 is 8" long and weighs 14oz.. I think it's safe to assume the average person who is interested in this sight would be looking at 1-4 scopes assuming the ACOG's didn't exist.

The Leupold MR/T 1-5.5x is 9" long and weighs 15oz. The Vortex PST is 9.7" long and 16oz's. The Burris TAC30 is 11.3" long and weighs 17oz's. On top of that the typical mount you would use for a 1-4x type scope if going to weigh more then you average ACOG mount. So in short, the TA-11 is both shorter and lighter then it's typical competition.

Even if you want to compare it to other ACOGs, the TA31 is 6.1" long and weighs 11.64oz's. To each their own but I personally don't think that's a huge difference. When you consider the slighter higher magnification, superior eye relief and FOV, I think the TA-11 is more then worth the extra 2" and 3.5oz's

ta 31f works for me . the best thing you could do is find a dealer and look through as many different ones as possible. these threads always turn into ginger or mary ann.

I've always wondered, why does a person choose the TA01 over the TA31? They are the same optic other than the TA01 not being illuminated in day light. So what is the draw of the TA01 over the TA31, or is it just that some people prefer a black reticle in day light?

ETA: Not bashing, I'm honestly curios..

to the OP, what is your intended use of the Optic? for hunting, i would suggest a Ta31 as it gets bit more magnification. for sports like 3 gun, you will need that eye relief, as fast acquistion is needed in shooting those long distance shots. In my opinion, I use a Ta11 for 3G. I also have a Ta31 for backup, but that really slows down my target acquistion.
the weight difference does not impact mush , IMHO. just depnds on how you carry or use it, really
