So I have been wanting to get an optic for my AR and I initially wanted the TA31RCO-M4 but have decided that I am going to pick up an Aimpoint instead (well at least until I get the money for both) My question is which one should I get? I want the 2MOA dot and I was wondering which I should get the Comp M3 or the M4? Is one really any better than the other? I was thinking the M3 since it isn't quite as expensive as the M4.... Is the M4 really better or just newer and thus more costly?

The M4 is pretty well indestructible, although the M3 is a good sight as well, it requires a 30mm ring, whereas the M4 comes with a rail grabber base.

The big difference with the M3 and the M4 (or M4s with the battery compartment on the lower right side, instead of the traditional upper right side) is that the M4 uses AA batteries, and has 80,000 hours of life!

Again with the M4s you can get the battery compartment in the lower section so its more out of the way.

I have both and it's a hard decision. I haven't used the m3 yet but i love it. I do love that the m4 uses aa batteries but the m3 has more mounting options.

OP, I'd recommend you check out the 4 MOA version of whichever model you decide to get. I have a 2 MOA ML3, and a 4 MOA clone, and the larger dot on the clone is much easier to pick up, especially in bright sunlight. I haven't noticed one bit of difference in accuracy between the two, either. It's a big enough difference I'm thinking about trading my 2 MOA for a 4 MOA.

You can always turn up the dot on a 2moa to make it larger... I really really like my 2moa ML3 but I have a micro on the way to try on my AK.

As long as you have the brightness turned up the 2 moa will bloom and be just as fast to shoot with. I much prefer the smaller dots for long guns.

Fixed. I think they lasted about 4 days.

I decided on the ML3 due to having the 2MOA and price.
The M4 was a little big for my liking and the Micros look a little small for my likings.
Both are significantly more in price too

Depends what you plan on using it for though.
