The ol lady is getting me a CMT BCG for my B-Day next week from Denny and I don't know what to tell her to get. I believe I want an MP checked, chromed, (partially chromed?) enhanced BCG. However I have a RRA LPK in my Mega lower and the hammer is slotted. I thought I read somewhere on the forums that enhanced BCG's were for the smooth hammers, and standard BCH's were for slotted hammers. I already have a CMT MP checked bolt, Colt firing pin, and the other two pieces. I also wasn't sure if I should run an AR15 or M16 BCG. This build will have a 16" Sabre mid-length setup.

If it matters, I'll be running a CMT H buffer on a CS ISMI flat wire recoil spring. Which BCG do I need guys? Thanks!!!

you need a bolt carrier group or just the carrier? the carriers arent whats mp tested its the bolts themselves.

dont recall the hammer issue but i would think that the "enhanced" shrouded firing pin carrier would be the one to use on any.

Thanks man...I just need the carrier. I read about it on some glossary of terms here on the boards, but can't find it now...thought it was under information at the top. So I just want an AR15 enhanced carrier? Does CMT chrome any part of the carriers?

STAG only chromes the inside of the carrier where the bolt sits.

Could I spray paint the outside?

The M16 bolt carrier assy should be more efficient because the AR was designed with that carrier.

The standard CMT shrouded enhanced bolt carriers are fine, I have a CMT enhanced BCG.

I'm mostly running M16 bolt carriers now but have no problems with the standard and enhanced carriers in the past.

What is the difference besides a little weight?

The additional weight to the carrier softens rearward carrier movement and increases carrier momentum resulting in greater reliability.

Mostly carbines and SBRs benifits more from the additional carrier weight than full length rifles.

Thanks man. I'm using a mid-length gas system, CS ISMI flat wound recoil spring & CMT H buffer so maybe I'll stick with the standard carrier.

My enhanced carrier runs fine with the slotted hammer. It came straight from Bushmaster like that.

Do they not chrome the inside of the carrier key?

Yes, the inside of the keys are also chromed.  The spec call for the interior of the Bolt Carrier where the gas rings on the bolt ride and the inside of the carrier key to be hard chrome plated.

CMT makes excellent BCG's.

Are all CMT bolts MP'd now?  I'm doing price matching with the different dealers on ARFCOM right now, so I'll probably be coming your way for at least something soon Denny.  Always a pleasure dealing w/ your company.
