If you are planning on using NVG get the military series. If not get the non-military

What battery type do you prefer to use?

The N type battery model have a shorter life, something like slightly over a week when turned on at medium setting, continuous in the on position, it also have a shorter body.

AA models have longer battery life and easier to find in most stores, it have a longer body than the N battery models.

If you see a D1 after the model number that means it only have a one dot 1 MOA size, it doesn't have the large ring reticle, they're also preferred by Aimpoint users because they're used to having a single dot.

I would recommend and most members here choose the model 512A65 which 512 means that it's an AA battery model, the number A65 means that it have the the 1 MOA dot & large ring reticle and it have the longer size body.

id get the non-night vision AA one, i have the N one and im happy with it but AA's have a longer battery life and i dont really need the extra rail space (512< i think), make sure you get a revision F its the newest one. If money was not an object, i would get the 553, 123 batteries andbuilt in mount with riser, but its hella expensive compared to the other one.

EO Tech 552, When hunting in low light ( without night vision) the night vision settings on the 552 give you more choices for reticle intensities. If you get too much bloom with the lowest daytime settings, switch to the night vision settings and crank it up till you see the reticle.

The military versions are waterproof to 33' (1 atmosphere pressure).
The standard versions are only waterproof to 10' so they're really just water resistant.

I would go with the military version.  Technology is coming down in price every day and it is only a matter of time before NODs become more affordable.
