| The Brownell one, or Bushmaster one? |
|
Everyone seemed to recommend the Bushmaster one when I was researching it so that's the one I picked up. Just got it last week and it is very sturdy and well built. IIRC, the DPMS panther claw isn't recommended for barrel work due to the torque that would be transmitted to the upper receiver. Whether there is any truth to this statement, I don't know. But that seemed to be the general consensus in all the threads that I read. |
What makes it difficult? I have a couple of FF tubes. |
It was kind of a tight fit with the Larue rails anti rotation lock, It got pinched between the block and the lock ring. I suppose if I was smart I would have ground out a recess for the anti rotation lock, but I just monkeyed with it until I got it together. I used it with a couple YHM rails with no troubles. |

Watch the show where they went to FN and saw how the M16 was built. The guy installing the bbls uses a fixture similar in concept to the DPMS fixture. As for the torque issue, there is no difference between the styles. Actually the DPMS will have less lb/PSI than the other types because the DPMS bearing surface is much larger than the blocks that just grip the upper in the ejection port length. rj |
