New to the forum and just made my first AR purchase. Looking for a sling that will place the rifle comfortably on my front side. Let me know what works best for you and include pictures if you are so inclined. As always, thanks in advance for your feedback and helping out the new guy..... PS - I have looked at Viking tactics and they seem to have some nice products. |

I've got Blue Force Gear Vickers VCAS two point sling on my M4 type carbine and the new Vickers padded two point sling on my general purpose heavier carbine which I got both from Bravo Company. My Colt M16A2 clone 20" rifle and Galil carbine have the IDF slings from DSG Arms. |

The ASP is a good sling, but you have to want and understand what a single point does to use it correctly. For general purposes the Gear Sector GS-2P is a better choice, and it will work on the SOCOM stock. If you're a door kicker and you need a single point, the ASP and ASP-V a excellent slings. But from what's been said and without knowing the intended use it would be better to go with an adjustable two point. |
agreed, I don't know what the merits of each attachment type are. |
I've got a SOCOM and the Gear Sector 2-point. Trusty at Gear Sector came up with a great solution. Send him an e-mail. I used his sling and SOCOM setup and it is perfect. |

This guy speaks the truth. Without knowing your intended use, go with a two point. I guess I would fall under the title of "door kicker", so I use a single point most of the time. I run with a Northeast Tactical or a Gear Sector single points on my duty weapon, but I also keep a VTAC 2 point in the bag incase I end up on the outer ring. You will buy several slings eventually, because there are good and bad to each type. Nothing is perfect for every situation. Adapt. Have a good time. |
Single point is the fastest sling for transition to weak side shooting. down side is they dont secure the weapon very well for administrative tasks like searching and handcuffing. Three point sling is most secure/stable sling during administrative tasks but the tougest sling to transition fro strongside to weak side. Two point side mounted slings are the best compromise. Easy to transition from strong side to weak side and very secure. Especially if they have a quick adjust feature like the vickers. Bottum mounted two points are carry straps, not slings IMO. |

I am running the VTAC/LaRue padded using a LaRue rail Quick Disconnect front sling adapter and a Mid West industries MCTAR End plate adapater. This gives me the ability to rapidly transition from a 2 point set up to a single point set up using the quick detach sling swivels and the same sling. All you have to do is disconnect the front sling swivel and reattach it in the side spot on the end plate adapter and I normally run the rear swivel in the rear facing spot. Pretty slick set up and handles pretty much any eventuallity out there. |
