I am going to get a red dot for one of my ARs. I haven't been paying attention to the red dot stuff, so know very little.   A local shop sells Vortex and I want to support the shop, so only interested in Vortex this time.  Please take a moment and tell me why as well as which please.

I have a first gen Sparc which has been decent.  I have had two issues with it, both of which were dealt with by Vortex quickly and easily.  That being said, having shot with friends Strikefires, I would choose that over the Sparc for general use rifle.  I don't have any experience with their other red dot offerings.

I have a sparc, 2 strikefires and a spitfirex1, all first generation models.  I like them all but the spitfire is my favorite.

They have a sparc AR that looks interesting....

If your looking for a red dot for an AR then get the SPARC AR,  If you want the extra reliability of an etched reticle the Prism AR is hard to beat.    I have the Sparc AR and its outstanding.   I have not had any issues with my Vortex stuff, but it is nice to know when you plop 200.00 its guaranteed for life no matter what happens to it.

I'm going with the Spitfire AR.

I like the overall design/layout of the optic, I like the reticle design, I like that it has an etched reticle that is visible with or without a battery.

I just ordered the 3x prism scope. I have not played with it yet.

I have 2 of the Spitfire 1x mounted on my rifles. Both have been flawless to this point. I like the option of the red or green illumination and having the reticle etched on the glass is also nice if the battery dies.

I got a Sparc AR and there are things I love about it, and 1 thing I don't like much.

The dot is the best dot I've ever experienced.....crisper than the Aimpoint I was issued way back when (ML3), or any other dot I've seen as of yet (granted, I haven't looked at all of the modern ones).  The glass is clear.  The size is nice, it's not heavy, and it's got a rubberized coating.  I like the button placement and battery storage.

I don't much care for the fact that if I add a QD mount, I lose absolute cowitness.  I am also on the fence (until I get a chance to shoot with it) about the size of the viewing window.  I'd also prefer the lens caps took less time to remove....like the flip-up type vs. the rubber "I have to take time to squish together or they flop in the way of the optic" kind.

Overall, I'm happy with it.  It's well built.  It was the right price.  It has a lot to like.  AAA battery.  Lifetime warranty.

I want to give the spitfire AR a shot too.....pretty much the same thing, bigger viewing window, same AAA battery, same button position.  About $50 more, and a few more OZ.

This or the Sparc II would be my recommendation

I really like the SPARC AR in this price range.  Very good red dot with a great warranty for the money.
