I want to get a fully dedicated 22 upper soon, mainly for plinking at my buddies steel range. Probably will mount a red dot, most likely won't be used for precision shooting, I have a nice Anschutz 22 match rifle for my precision shooting.
I definitely want a dedicated upper with the proper twist and chamber. I've been reading about Nordic, CMMG, CORE15 and JP. I'd like to stay around $600 which rules out most all of the JP uppers except for one. Anyone have any feedback on these models or how they might compare with each other. |
| I built my dedicated .22 LR upper using a CMMG 20 inch barrel and CMMG bolt. 1 in 16 twist. I used a Rock River NM free float hand guard to build a .22 clone of my Service Rifle. It is an absolute tack driver. Using standard AR carry handle open sights at 50 feet on an NRA A-17 target, I can hit 9's and 10's all day long from prone position. (the 10 ring is about the same diameter as a .22 bullet). I shoot standard velocity 40 grain lead round nose in it on our indoor range. Love this gun! |

I have a TacSol upper. I also bought my son a S&W M&P 15-22...
If I had a do over... I would have bought a S&P M&P 15-22 over every "dedicated .22 upper". No tinkering... just load and shoot. I may get my wife a S&W M&P 15-22 soon. I am in Texas and my son is in Missouri, and due to the distance I did not want the chance I needed to "tune" a dedicated upper to get it to work reliably! |
