Should I get a 15" MI gen 2 ss rail, or a Noveske NSR for my 16" rifle?

NSR.  You'll love it.

I've been thinking about this too - I handled the SS Gen 2 on a rifle in a local shop. It felt awesome, very slim..and I think they look great. The NSR looks solid as hell though. I'm kinda having to get used to the look of the keymod stuff, honestly.

MI G2 ss, NSR, Alpha, Fortis rev 14, Centurian arms one, and the Rainier Sampson all fit the bill of what your looking at, take a look at them all, their overall weights, their price, their congifurations and go from there, wont go wrong with any of them.

I went with the Fortis on my last rifle, mainly because the weight was rediculously light, strong, slim, and has the M1913 rails at 3,6,9, & 12 for the last 2 inches, makes it so I never need to add rails because I can mount my light there.. built in QD's are nice too.

I was down to the REV and NSR, ended up with the REV and love it for the same reasons as FargoZ71.

Does the REV feel lopsided with rails at the 12 and 6 o'clock but low profile on the sides or does it feel ergonomic in the hand?

It does not feel lopsided, at all.

Another NSR vote here.

Depends exactly what you're looking for.

I love the KAC URX 3.1 for the same reasons others have praised the Fortis here. It's light and modular, but has picatinny sections in all or most of the spots you'd want them.

If you're looking for a pure modular handguard, the NSR can't be beat. It's even lighter, has as or more solid of a barrel nut than any other made, and the handguard itself is as slim as possible.

The NSR is the epitome of a handguard that you can manhandle. This IMO is where the uber hyped upcoming KAC URX 4 keymod and BCM keymod handguards will come up short to the NSR.

The NSR is going to be damn tough to ever beat in the modular keymod department IMO.

You might want to wait on the BCM rail. I believe that they are saying the 13" version with barrel nut will be sub 8 oz.

Really it always just comes down to preference. You should try a few local stores and see if they have anything that you can handle yourself. I would say that the MI Gen2 SS is the way to go. I haven't jumped on this keymod bandwagon yet, or CHF, just because its the cool new "in" fad right now.

...If you catch my drift.

yes. the mk4.

Ya the mk4 would be nice, except they don't make it in a 15"

Interesting. You don't think the URX 4 will stack up? Why?

Could also consider the Centurion CMR.

I have MI rails and I love their stuff, but if it was between these two I would go NSR

When people say "keymod bandwagon" what exactly do you mean? If a rail can attach pics tinny sections and also have the possibility of direct attachment of accessories in the future how could it possibly be any worse than a free float modular tube that only attached picatinny? Keymod is the future as much as it scares people because they just won't have that 4 ft of wasted rail look. I say NSR all day or any other well made keymod for that matter.

I bought the fortis 14' for the cost efficiency.  It has rails where I want them and the quick disconnect.  If not for that I would have got the NSR.  You will love both.  The fortis was in stock also.  Can't go wrong.

Parallax Tactical also sells a 15" keymod rail.

Almost a NSR clone.

Went and ordered the NSR.  I will post pics of it once I get it installed!

Ya im deciding between the 13.5" NSR or the 13" Parallax tactical Keymod rail, pretty close to the same, the PT has a built in QD socket which is nice and is about $50 cheaper..i cant decide..lol

Rev is nice and slim and feels a ton nicer in hand than a quad rail and covers.

Apex is another to consider.  Its solid and pretty light and if you don't plan to use a vert grip the texture on the forearm is pretty awesome.

This.  I have one, it's a nice, light, and solid rail.  Very nice feel.
