Building my first AR and trying to decide which trigger assembly to use. It seems my choices are one-stage or two-stage. Of the one-stage, I've seen Timney and Bill Springfield (at about half the cost). For two-stage, I've seen RRA, CMMT and LMT.

So, for "normal" use, would you go 1 or 2 stage? And of the above choices in each category, which would you choose? Finally, if one-stage, should I go with the 3 lb or 4 lb trigger?

I've also heard that the two-stage trigger "breaks down" over time (1000-2000 rounds). Is this true? Will I be replacing the trigger every couple thousand rounds?

RRA single stage is nice, never shot the 2 stage

I really like the single stage JP triggers and have them in two ARs.

They do require a bit of hand fitting.

i have the RRA two stage tuned by WOA that adco sells. i've got about 3500 rounds through it and it's still going strong.

when/if it does wear out, i'm getting a giessele.

Geissele Automatics is the way to go.

Timney single stage is what I have in all 4 AR's. A true drop in trigger, easy to install.

Perfect trigger IMO

I'll throw in one that hasn't been mentioned... Jard.

I have Jard single-stage triggers in four ARs and I wouldn't trade them for anything. I guess that's why I have four of them.

I like the single-stage better than the two-stage triggers, but it is mostly a personal preference thing. I have the 4# non-adjustables in my SBR and 3-gun ARs, a 3# non-adjustable in my 18" Grendel and a 2# adjustable in my new 24" Grendel.

Can only vouch for RRA's 2 stage and the stockers. For the $$$, the RRA's hard to beat.

The JARD triggers make me nervous because they use the grip screw to set sear engagement.
