I have a Colt Match Target Hbar 20"and would like to put a flat top upper on it.  This is my first AR type rifle and I am somewhat lost as to what will fit on what.   I was looking at one at www.del-ton.com.  Here is the link to one of the uppers I was looking at....

Also, without  seeing one in person, how can I make sure the color will match?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Derrick

The Colt Match Target I have, made in 2000, is very flat black. Many of the earlier Colt's were dark or light gray. I have put a few uppers on the Colt and they have matched pretty perfectly. A lot has to do with how you oil them up and wipe them down, I guess. If your Colt is black, you shouldn't have too much to worry about what most dealers offer today.
You are on the right track asking for someone to speakup on their experiences with that Delton model upper.  I hope you find a keeper.

ETA: I see your link takes in a DPMS unit. They use a Teflon coating process over the anodizing. The one DPMS upper I have is actually quite flawless in surface finish, but is slightly off black; almost a very very dark gray, but I think it is mostly how the Teflon coating reflects the light to my ageing eyesight. On my DPMS, I just put it on the Match Target, and I can tell a bit of shade difference compared to the Bushmaster I had on it in the safe.

It is flat black not grey.  By the way, I plan to keep my barrel and all, I just want to swap out the upper receiver.  Later I plan to do some other stuff to it but for now I want a flat top so I can mount a scope on it at a decent height.
