I want to get either a Model 1 or J&T upper for my bushy lower.  Both have what I want, a 20" stainless, flat-top upper for around $360 or so.  Which brand is the better brand?

Kimber,

Not much difference there.  There's a good chance that both vendors are using the SS Wilson barrel blanks, which BTW are the cheapest SS barrels you can get your hands on.

My experience with Wilson barrels is that 50% of the time you get a good shooter and 50% of the time you're going to shoot 2 MOA at best.  It's a toss up.

In my opinion, I'd suggest you get a Bushmaster National Match 20" barrel, which will be chrome-lined (big fan of chrome lined barrels).  The point here is that unless you pay big bucks for a great SS barrel like a Kreiger or Douglas, you're going to get as good or better accuracy and (better) longevity out of a good quality Mil-spec chrome lined barrel.

Shoot well.
