Guy's looking for a pair of Triangular Handguards that are Mottled, and idea
who might have these ?? Also would these be correct for a 602 Retro build ?? Sharky1528 |

I'm not sure there's such a thing as mottled handguards other than the brown bakelite ones. Here are some shiney ones though.

A shiny look would be better than the matte finish. Some here have speculated that all of them were matte finish and then through use became shiny. I have had big bunches of them and lots of them were essentially unnissued and yet still had a shiny finish. Some heavily used ones did eventually take on somewhat of a mottled apperance but that was the different oriented strands of fiberglass (or whatever magical material) begining to be exposed.
For a 602, you should be looking for a shiny black set but more importantly a "no drain hole" set. Easy to tell them because if you look at the heatshield inside, there shouldn't be any little holes through the aluminum for water drainage. Its easy to id them but kind of hard to find a set. |
| Quiet is exactly right. The 'mottled" ones I have are all worn/heavily used. The same vintage unused have "swirls" from the "magic" material but have not been exposed to the surface yet. Look for the no drain hole handguards in decent condition and you will be gtg. |
