They lady I talked to indicated they had some left then. I have one on the way. I think they open at 9 Central time, as I tried to call at 8:30 the first time, and couldn't get through. |

I just bought three. If you want one, call and pay by credit card. They can't really know what they have left because they are waiting to receive mailed checks. And we all know the one about "the check is in the mail". |

My upper was setting on the dinning table when I got home tonight.
Colt upper, 3-prong, bbl. marked "12" up front and "M" and triangle between FSB, steel gas tube. '64-'66?. Left hand guard matt, right shiny. Can tell it has been fired but I'd guess not more that a half dozen times. Light rust under hand guards - nothing serious. To say I'm pleased is an under statement. |

I did not even consider the possibilty that some may come with 3-prongers. That would be cool. If not its getting one anyway. Whats the correct lower for this pup? XM16E-1? For a birdcage flash hider, NDS16A1. For a three-prong, XM16E1. Of course, if you go XM16E1, you have to go all the way and invest in dimpled pins, selector, magazine catch........ |

Well, mine's here. What I ended up with:
Barrel marked C MP C, and as far as I can tell, it's unfired. No wick down the bore, but no unburned stuff either, no crud at chamber end/bolt locking lugs where you can never get it out. A1 Birdcage Flashider, with "Barrel cot" protector. Front Sight base has the flash milled off. Sling svivel roll pinned and appears to have been neither slinged or swivelled. Still has white protective crap on it. Mint condition matching semi-glossy handguards. Left has no drainholes, right has two drainholes. Black slipring with two minor scars, matching the two minor scars on the: Really nice condition non refinished 604 receiver. That has been dropped on the concrete. Twice. One ding to the front left of the carry handle, that I'll have to dress down with a light file, as it raised a little snag of aluminum, and a little ding to the lower right of the charging handle where the receiver bells out to match the ring for the lower extension. Damn shame, about the dings, this thing looked unissued when I pulled it out of the packing, too. It'll clean up like new, though. |

Wish I had something to report, guys. I just got home a minute ago from lunch and found a UPS notice. UPS never gets to me before 4. Why today? Geez. Tomorrow, tomorrow...
Sounds like you got a really nice barrel, Mark. Shame to hear about the dings. That seems to be the way it is with these, though. Just can't get a mint one... |

That's cool though, I've got 2 other uppers here that are like new. And the one I got today will be when I finish with it. |

Just unwrapped mine. Looks to be identical to Marks above. Cmpc, smooth forged FSB, left hg is flat & exc the right is shiny but has two "teeth" missing, left has drain holes right does not. The slip ring is park'd not black. Receiver looks to have original finish; perfect on the left side with the right sides patina turning to a blackish hue near the bottom. The receiver pin lugs are black. Proof marks on the receiver are a triangle w/p & a C inside a square. The barrel has chrome extending out onto the feed ramps. Just removed the guards(easier than A2 for sure), barrel has no other markings and is rust free. Stainless gas tube. This piece has been fired but is very clean, a little tale tale residue at the gas tube end. Well thats about it. No damage of note. Just storage marks etc. Perfect bore. What does it sound like we have here guys? Original or rebarreled early upper? Did the early slab side uppers come with this type setup? If so whats the ideal lower? I notice the forward push pin hole is counterbored for the non captive pin.
Update* Based on what I gathered at Retro Black Rifle this looks to possibly be an AF 604. It all fits, codes, barrel etc. Kinda cool since I'm an AF vet. Late model barrel would indicate A1 lower, otherwise XM is approriate, correct? Oh and it looks killer with the set of mottled handguards I had laying around for like 20 years! |

Oh and it looks killer with the set of mottled handguards I had laying around for like 20 years! You're correct. USAF 604, also called just plain ol' M16. A1 lower is correct, unless you want to build an 'early' 604. That would require a 3-prong flash hider, XM16E1 partial fence lower, and dimpled pins. |

I got mine today- it's black. I mean, really black- it almost matches my RRA lower perfectly. Too bad it's not going on a RRA lower.
Guess it doesn't matter- makes the decision to send it out for refinish that much easier. I would take pics, but it's too late here... |

The rear pin works but you can see the front is a hair off and there is a gap at the rear. But talk about perfect match; I then tried it on my preban Eagle Arms 20" H-Bar's lower and wham! Perfect fit and color match. Thats one of the great things about the old Eagles/Armalites, that old school Colt gray they came in. No matter either way though as its getting a Spudmiester XM lower eventually. The RRA is going to get a dizzie upper. And if my Spikes pistol lower ever shows..................................................... |
