I was originally going to have some parts ceracoated until I saw the thread about it,
US anodizing is just out of the budget, so that leaves Norrell's greyish / blackish.

Who's had it done?  How does it compare to XM grey and are you happy with it?

Thanks in advance.

i used it for the first time on a couple of builds this past fall.  very easy to work with and the grey/black matches pretty well with grey anno.   if you search it you will find numerous threads on norrell's , good stuff.

I use it when i can. the color selection is limited vs cerakote.
but i like it better.

The retro is spot on.

I like norrells. No mixing.

Yeah it's good stuff, I used the blackish grey on a lower for my M16A1 kit and it matched the Colt upper extremely close. I bought a $20 ebay airbrush, worked great. Very durable as well. It lays out very smooth and even.

I love it, easy to apply and cure, even a idiot can do it!

I've found that it goes on much better if both the paint and surface is heated beforehand.

Just an FYI, it's somewhat transparent so make sure your prepped surface is all the same color.

I've also found that results are much better if you let it cure for a few weeks before reassembly.

I agree about anodizing , it just adds too much cost to each project.
I'm sure it's more durable, but I'm not going to war with theses guns so...
Norrells is the only thing I will use . One 30$ bottle will do more than half
A dozen receivers or more.  It's just to cost effective not to use it for me.
I use it on retro and modem projects.

Great advice and nice pics guys.  Never get tired of retro gear & nice builds at that.
Thank you.
Sounds definitely the way to get them done.

Will post when they return.

The receivers on 601s  usually didn't match.
You can get this affect by cooking your parts at different
Temps and times.
Like the lower at 300 degrees for a hour and the upper
At 350 for a hour and a half.

The norrells instructions are very good and helpful

Trimdad is the one who turned me on to norrells. I had to use it for my 656 project as it was an aluminum/steel mix on the upper. It came out looking great. Anodizing does wear a little better but for the price and look you can't beat it.
