| Looking for unbiased answers...Will a scope rated for airgun recoil be reliable on a 5.56 AR-15?? |
| Airgun optics that are specifically rated for airgun recoil usually refer to the type of recoil that you see in spring powered guns. Spring guns have a sharp forward recoil from when the piston reaches the end of its travel, and this forward recoil is what the optics are rated against. So, when you see an optic with something that says it's safe for airgun use it's saying that the optic is ok for the sharp forward recoil of the gun, which really doesn't help you much on an AR. |

I have a pellet rifle that destroyed a low price simmons rifle scope. I think a spring piston pellet rifle rated scope would easily stand up to rifle recoil, but the real question is why would you want to do that?
My simmons crosshairs gave out after 20-30 shots. |
