Just installed a free float tube on my 20". Took it out today and sighted it in, gas system functions fine and no major adjustment to iron sights needed. However, the triangular area on the tube where the handguards fit is SLIGHLTY canbted to the left. Just enough to be noticeable.
The gas tube clears fine and functions, will this slight offset make a difference in how it shoots, or is it just a cosmetic thing I shouldn't worry about?
It was a hassle sneaking "evil gun parts" into work to remove/install the float tube, and could have cost me my job if the safety nazis had seen it. I'd like to avoid this again if possible, but I also want to use this gun next month in competitions.
TIA

If you've determined that the gas tube functions properly then all you'd have to decide is whether or not you can accept the slight cosmetic appearace.  Just my 2 cents worth.
