Are these worth $2000? How do they compare to colt or s&w?

First, whether or not they're worth $2000 is subjective.  These will be custom assembled rifles that will be accurate and run smoothly.  They will have all the fit and finish stuff people love.  What is never specified, and they won't answer, is whether they have the "spec" features like MPI/HP testing and stuff like that.  They have great triggers, nice and durable color finishes and NP3 coating on the BCG.

Colt and S&W don't compare to each other as closely as many think.  They'll both be very utilitarian compared to Wilson.  Colt has all the best "specs", materials and QC, often they look like crap.  S&W uses good BCGs (important) and mil-spec receiver extensions, but they are commercial in every other way.

For $1700ish, you can have a Colt 6920 with a DD Lite Rail and Troy BUIS, and have $300 left over for other stuff.

For $1300, you could have THIS!

You tell me whether Wilson Combat is worth it?

Nope not worth $2000 IMO.

For that price I would buy a KAC or noveske which I did

Sub $2000 SR15E3s can be found if you look around.  Just sayin'.

IMO wilson seems very very proud of their stuff.  Thats fine but i have not seen one of their AR related products that does anything that another manufacturers part doesn't do cheaper.

Wilson makes some of the finest 1911's in the world and there is no doubt their AR offering is right up there, but for $2000 I would opt for a Colt, KAC, Noveske, or other high end AR maker.

Have you considered a Lewis Machine & Tool CQB MRP piston 16?  I have one on order that I am getting for $1750.  It has been on order for several months now, but that's what happens when a high-quality product becomes popular.

I bought one like 4 years ago as a divorce present the day before we split the debt on the cc's so I only paid half (she never noticed). Awesome fit/finish/trigger etc... but +1 on the other options avail for similar or less price. It now sits in my gf's patrol car, makes me smile every time I see it in there

Completely agree

I have had some trigger time with a Wilson Combat AR at a carbine class, and it ran like a finely crafted Swiss watch-as you'd expect for it's price. If fit and finish is your thing, the one I ran was beautifully put together. One of the students at this class wanted to "test drive" an LMT, so we swapped carbines for the day. I was happy to get the opportunity to sip a different flavor of KoolAid, and so was he-so it was a win-win situation for both of us.

Two grand for a base carbine is a tad rich for my budget, since I'd have to spend another $1000+ to configure it for training/defensive use (Surefire M500A, Aimpoint Comp M2, BUIS, LaRue QD mount etc). If your wallet allows you to do it, I say go for it-you won't be sorry

There are several "ultra premium" brands that I'd love to have in my collection-KAC, Wilson, and LaRue come immediately to mind.

I currently have a new Colt 6940 and a new Wilson M-4T. They are both great rifles. Colt and Wilson have a long heritage of industry leading quality control. I would feel equally comfortable grabbing either one to defend my life. However, the Wilson is a custom beauty, second to none in IMO. From the JP Trigger to the smooth sided quad-rail, to the incredible accuracy right out of the box... whew, well you get the point. :)

S&W was on the short list of my purchasing decisions recently, but if I purchase another one, it will be another Wilson or Colt.

Edit: Last weekend at the firing range, one of the employees (a former Marine) saw the two rifles and asked for a quick few shots with each. He shot the Colt first (it has an Elcan sitting on top) and smiled. He then shot the Wilson, and for a moment, I thought he wasn't going to give it back.

Nice. Explains why she walked.

I have a Wilson that I bought several years ago for about 1100 (it had 200 rounds through it).  It's been a great rifle.  Never had a hiccup in several thousand rounds (non mag related anyway).  The trigger is superb and the thing is a tack driver.  At least for my rifle, the 1 MOA guarantee was no bullshit.  Not a complaint of any type about it.

That said, for 2K, I wouldn't do it again.  You can get a Daniel Defense plus a high quality optic/mount for the same money and be ahead in terms of accessories like the rail.  If you must have a better trigger, have Bill Springfield touch it up or, for more money, drop in an upgrade yourself.

Wilsons are great, but it's too much premium to pay for upgrades you can do yourself for cheaper.  You won't be disappointed, but your wallet will be lighter than it needs to be.
