| Why does the J&T website recommend avoiding Winchester White Box ammo? I have a J&T CAR I have finally put together and innocently bought a box of this at wally world. After I got in the truck I remembered reading something on their website about a type of ammo to avoid. Came home and looked it up and it was the type I had bought. Is there something seriously wrong with this ammunition that will mess up my rifle or what? |

While I don't *know* why, my guess it would be for one of these two reasons: 1. Not all of their rifles have M16/5.56-spec chambers, and those that don't will have increased pressures due to the tigher chamber, which causes a number of problems, but primarily extraction failures. 2. The last year of Q3131 production (1999), Winchester (who ran the Lake City plant at the time) seemed to have assembled the ammo with "bottom-of-the-barrel" powder, and the pressures varied wildly, with many rounds being loaded VERY hot. This caused a lot of problems for a lot of people. The current ammo is Q3131A, and is really IMI M193, manufactured under contract for Winchester. -Troy |

Quoted: Umm, he got it at wally world. I don't think they stock Q3131A, do they? It's probably their .223 the p/n is usa and some numbers. That was my impression as well. I was referring to the USA stuff at Wally World that I've used quite a bit and never had any problems. |
