I am thinking on getting a rec7 6.8 16" upper, and cutting the barrel down to roughly about 12",  That will leave hte barrel about an inch past the gas block, would this cause cycling issues since gas might escape too soon before it runs the action?

This doesn't answer your question but it appears to be a good deal.

I would call Barrett CS. Only they will know with 100% certainty.

Im not a fan of the new handguard,  if they had the 6.8 with the omega X rail upper i would grab it.

i know i will probably need to call them i was seeing if anyone here knew an answer.

I would expect big problems with cycling with only 1" of barrel after the gas port.

I say this based on my theoretical understanding of the gun, not on actual experience with a barrel that short.

Barrett does make a factory SBR with a barrel that barely extends beyond the gas block.  I don't know what they're doing with the gas port but I assume the gun works.

I was going to get there PDW, but i am having trouble finding a suppressor for 6.8 that has warranty for 6.8 that short of a barrel.

thats y i was thinking of just getting an upper and cutting it down  to about 12. but this is the issue im coming with, they could of opened the gas port a bit more for the pdw.
