To mate this upper http://www.fulton-armory.com/fariflecal556mmupruniversalprecisionrifle-3-2-2-7-3.aspx To this lower. http://newfrontierarmory.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=245_285&products_id=34089&zenid=4b7dbad764628df7b7020a31a3b3b0c7
Because as of right now thats the plan. I will later replace the polymer guts to the lower with DPMS steel ones. And as for the upper It's the only assembled unit I have seen withe a chrome moly barrel in 1x8" twist even has the bayonet lug for my bayonet! I love the A2 sooo thats what I am after. The lower will also end up with a A2 stock. I don't like the collapsible crap. |

Given you plan to replace the stock & buffer tube, you're probably better off w/ a stripped aluminum lower & shopping the black Friday deals. |

the guts of the lower receiver are not polymer, the receiver it self is polymer. There are many threads here about New Frontier lowers being out of spec. Spend your $. On a metal lower I agree with him. The poly lower would be ok for a 22 rimfire upper. I would not use one on a standard AR. |

Well, I should caveat my post. If you want to stab pigs w/ plastic lower, or you want the weight reduction plastic brings, you probably want this, especially for an A2 build:

Guys I already have the lower, and near as I can tell, yes the guts are polymer. I'll look again after I get home from work though. The Fulton Armory upper seems to be of good quality, and the New Frontier lower, questionable to some, looks fine to me for what it is. I guess I'll be a T&E guy of it then. I know most people scoff at things like this. But until I see a reason not to use it, I'm going to try it out. Now I wouldn't try butt stoking someone with it too many times... but I see no reason why it shouldn't be alright otherwise.
If someone has hard evidence them please present it and i'll look at selling the lower and getting a Spikes Tactical lower or something to mate with the Fulton upper. |
| Oh, it'll shoot fine. The takedown pin to buffer tube area is fragile, however, you don't want to stab pigs w/ it or any other form of bayonet practice. Definitely no buttstroking, & try to avoid dropping it. The best stock you could put on it is a thumbhole, but those are priced out of sight. A full length stock will give a little reinforcement, better than a carbine stock. |

That's got some pics & links of where plastic - and magnesium - and aluminum lowers break - between the takedown pin & the buffer tube collar. http://www.feinsteinproject.org/loes/effortwoodstock/effortWoodstock.html has a couple of links to thumbhole stocks apparently made of unobtanium... If you've only got $100 in it, use it 'til it breaks - then glue it back together & throw a dedicated .22" LR upper on it. If you wait a couple of months, we'll have a thumbhole stock here: http://www.feinsteinproject.org/loes/effortthumbhole/effortThumbhole.html You'll be able to build it yourself out of plastic bricks, such as Legos or K'nex... |

Where that first one broke was my main area of concern and why I said I wouldn't try butt-stroking anything with it, even with the A2 butt-stock. Since I already have it and it didn't cost me much for the complete lower, I will just use it until it breaks. Then I will purchase a Spikes or Fulton Armory lower.
If I were about to purchase / order my upper right now, is there any other manufacture other than Fulton Armory, you think I might want to take a look at for a A2 20" assembled upper? 1x7 twist chome moly.. I just re-read the the description on the Fulton Armory A2 upper and unless i'm wrong there using a SS barrel. Which I do not want. |

Here is a Doublestar A2 upper from Centerfire that is pretty nice and a lot cheaper than Fulton. Buy a $100 AIM Surplus BCG and Centerfire also has a charginf handle on their site for $18, and you're at $446+shipping for a ready to go upper. Big savings over a $700 one.

Man, I would be all over that except for it's .223, and i'd like to have the 5.56 so I could use both .223 and 5.56 in it. You might ask in the DSC / JT industry forum but all their barrels used to be chambered in 5.56. My carbine barrel is. http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=2&f=40&t=221335 |
