Why not just buy a real one..? www.autoweapons.com/products/destructivedevices.html 15th item down. $6000. |
You know, I just went to autoweapons.com to look at the one they have for sale, and it looks very similar to the M203 mounting method in principle. If one had the basic dimensions you could probably go from there. |
Holy crap what did I get myself into! ![]() Most people just buy a brown pistol grip and it all starts from there. It's good to see that there is still are original launchers out , but I don't have that kind of cash. Is the pistol grip looking thing the lock for the chamber? |
Sure does look like it. I'd be indebted to anyone who could find a manual or otherwise demonstrate its operation. Having never seen any indication of how it was actually used I would be great to have this information. |

Thank you sooo much for posting pics. In the bottom pic is that some sort of rod coming off the front hanger and stopping against the triangle handguard cap. ? To keep the launcher from walking froward on the barrel ? Wow, I can't thank you enough for posting such great photos. Dave |
| The short thick hook behind the tube is the cocking lever. The firing trigger is on the ejection port side and rotates up out of the way. There is also a bar on the front mount that goes forward to the front endcap to limit forward movement on the launcher. That part was made from pictures and some spare M203 heat shield pieces. It is a fragile design and I am always a little worried when I shoot it as I have no idea where spares could be found. |

OK, this Q is off-topic...but since PvtSNAFU posted the pic... That guy drinking from the canteen...the front handguard on that M16 of his looks an awful lot like the handguard in that ARVN Airborne Ranger pic...smooth, no taper, no heat holes... That's two of these we've seen pics of that no one can identify...

Looks like a standard A1 triangle HG to me. I think the appearance of no taper is actually from the edge of boonie cap the guy in the foreground is wearing, and you can see what looks like the scallops of the holes at the very front of the HG, before the brim covers the top of the HG. It does look a little thin and unusual at first, but I think it's just the standard HG. ~Augee |
Screw the XM148!!! I want the 4-shot M79 pump!!!

Those were short-lived; might look cool, but they sucked in the field. |
