Getting closer and closer, but still so far away.
I have my upper, and ALL of the smaller parts, but need some very obvious ones. I have my sources lined up for the most part, but wanted to know about the following. As to the moderators, I am considering two options. There is a guy that goes by "Brick" that makes a clone from an original Colt. These are $60. How do they not require an NFA stamp? My other option is the Bushmaster. It is only like $15, but is hollow. Would anyone be able to tell unless they were looking down the barrel? Secondly, what is the correct slip ring? I have a flat, ringed one right now... but I dunno if that is correct. If tapered is correct, would it be aluminum and ringed? Thanks! |

It does not have the baffles inside that would constitute making it a suppressor under the NFA definition. On all the repros I have seen, his is by far the most accurate. Quoted:
Secondly, what is the correct slip ring? The tapered "delta" ring is correct for an E2. |
| Get the Brick moderator; the Bushmaster ones are noticeably different from the originals and just don't look quite right. Do it right the first time; if you buy cheap parts now, you'll end up spending more in the long run to replace them when you realize they don't satisfy you. |

I agree,go with a brick moderator.I have one on my XM177E1. |

Quoted: Quoted: why the tape on the buttstock and the moderator? The moderator has a tape muzzle cover, based on period photos; it just keeps the bore dry until the shooting starts. On the stock, just because I felt like it. Looks great, that is an excellent build! |

Anyone used Adco to do the barrel cut down and perm attach?
Just wondering how the work looked. The blind pin seems pretty visible on the website, but maybe that pic is before he touched it up? http://www.adcofirearms.com/shopservices/shop_.cfm?code=25 Anyway, do I just need to select the services: "Barrel threading for AR barrel" and tell them I want minimum length with the grenade ring and moderator? Looks like it will only be $95 plus shipping if I am calculating correctly. Is removing the bayo lug and flash something I can do in a shop? Or maybe with a dremel? I plan on painting this barrel to match with Aluma-Hyde II anyway because it's black. |
