Best way to get a quote from Randall is to post the question on his industry forum quotes thread. Actually, someone just asked for a quote to do an upper like uxb's a couple of weeks ago, and Randall responded. You may not even need a quote now...check it out about half-way down the page. ETA: Oops, that way you! once I get my quote, I just fill out an order form, or ask additional questions on the quotes page. It has worked so far. |

Here is a pic of my carbine: Randall Rausch of AR15BARRELS.com started with a 14.5" government profile barrel, cut it back to almost 14" and profiled it. He then threaded the back for the 5.5" FH, and permanently mounted the flashhider. This gives it a legal 16" length with an 11.5/5.5 look, and yields an effective length of almost 14" for an increase in muzzle velocity and reliability over an 11.5" barrel:  (Second pic copied from Randall) Randall says that he can do this with a lightweight barrel as well. If he can do it, this would be cool with a lightweight barrel, XM177 moderator and grenade ring. It would be as nice looking as uxb's beautiful carbine, while maintaining the advantages of a 14" barrel. |
