Anyone have this style? I think the one Im looking at has a 11.5'' Barrel with a 5.5" fake break. Is the barrel break combo legal. They look cool. Pics? |

I had my PWA set up that way for a few years. Actually, it's how I bought it. Anyway, while they do have some "cool factor", they don't really make sense for a fighting gun. If you have to have 16" of barrel it might as well be actual rifled barrel, not flash supressor. The 10.5" XM177 barrel loses a lot of muzzl velocity and severely limits the terminal range of the weapon. Also, the 5.5" commando flash supressor works no better than the much smaller Vortex G6. As far as reliability with the shortened barrel, I never had problems with my XM177 clone. I also didn't notice any real difference in useful accuracy between the two barrel lengths. Of course, if the gun is just used for fun and fighting isn't it's intended use, then these issues should be of no concern. Take care |
