I just completed a 4 day Police Carbine class with Giles Stock as the instructor. (there is a report in the general discussion forum on this)...

A buddy and I each shot about 1,400 rounds of the loose-packed Lake City XM193PD ammo from Ammoman with zero failures. I did toss out one round that was dented, otherwise, neither of us had a problem with ammo. I just ordered another case of it from Ammoman to replace the one I shot in the class.

I know there were all sorts of rumors that this was defective ammo, but our experience was it is perfectly good ammo (went bang each time), although the brass has some discoloring and there were a few dented rounds (these fired just fine).

Are you guys checking for loose rounds in the neck by hand because my lot of 500 had 50 like this.  I would have never noticed had I not checked by hand, and it is a potentially dangerous situation if the bullet was to become seated too far back.

That's why this ammo is a gamble. Sometimes you'll get a good case, sometimes you'll get one with a bunch of dented or otherwise unsafe to fire rounds. Let us know how your next case looks...

I just got some yesterday from SG out of 1000 I chucked 11...One had a split mouth, one had a freaky looking bullet almost looked like it was bent one was dented real bad and the others just had bunged up looking mouth's (crimp)on em they probably would have shot ok but why risk it..I only shot 30 rounds but with no problem..Seems pretty hot I can say that..

We used 3 cases of the PD ammo and tossed out maybe 3 or 4 rounds. I ordered another case of it. I can only comment on the experience of myself and my buddy. The ammo was fine.

I just ordered a case of the XM855PD from Natchez. I expect to have some bad rounds in it, but since it will be used on the range, its no big deal. As a bonus, I will have 1000 or so once fired cases to play with.

I just finished off another case of XM193PD and ordered a replacement case from Ammoman. So far, this ammo groups as well as any commerical ammo I've used.

Between my buddy and I this is 4 cases of XM193PD with zero problems in a Bushmaster and Colt.
