I've been out of the ammo game for a year or so but have a chance to buy some XM855PD.  What is a fair price for 1K rounds of this ammo?

Thx.

I guess I'll get it then.  It's going for $200.  Seems a little pricey when you can get brand new PMC for $300.  The headsamps are around 02 I think.

Jump on it! I bought 2k of LC M855PD for $190 ea back in Aug 2006. Buy all he has! Just make sure and inspect every round before you load it. I culled 7 rounds out of 2k due to excessive dents. The rest fired fine. I would give you $230 if you want to sell.

That PD stuff just scares me, hate to blow up a $16,000 Colt M16 just to save $100. Im sure 99.9% of its fine but all it takes is just 1 rnd. The bad thing is alot of people are sellin it as XM 855 and get upset when you ask questions and tell them its PD, they KNOW what it is but sell it as somethin else.

If I recall correctly, only the XM193PD was what people were really complaining about.  And even that has been all bought up now, with no reports of rifles blowing up from it.  So it must not have been as bad as some people were making it out to be.

Aside from the packaging, how would you tell the stuff from non-PD anyway?  It all looks the same, save for an unsealed primer, or deep seated bullet, here or there.

Oh.  And it only takes one round of anything to blow your $800 rifle up.  I'm pretty sure 99% of us don't have $16,000 M16s.

I didn't mean for this to start a debate on the PD ammo.  I've shot lots of it in the past with no problems at all so I'm not worried about it functioning.  It has always gone bang, is fairly accurate and in my opinion better than the other ammo that used to be similiarly priced.  I basically wanted to know if $200 was a good deal on this ammo in today's market because I've quit buying any .223 for some time now so am way out of the loop on current prices.  I stacked it deep a couple of years ago when I saw the writing on the wall.  The only reason I bought this was because it was offered to me and I can use the brass for more reloading.

Thanks for the info guys.

I think 200 is a great price.  Im sure if this stuff was still availible it would bring at least 100 more.
