Wish I had the money for this: http://www.gunbroker.com/item/576276085 I want that so bad! Maybe we could buy it together. I will take it Thursday through Sunday. You can have it Monday through Wednesday and ever other holiday. Works for me. I wonder if anyone makes replica parts? I am building an M203 and I have everything for that project but the barrel. |

HOT http://www.gunbroker.com/item/576276085 Does Airsoft make one of these? |
| Hey guys, you are right. If you went to a shoot at Impact Zone or Keith Allison's down in Leona you have seen or possibly shot this launcher. It is in my personal collection and I am seeing about selling it now. Value on a 148 is very hard to judge as there are very, very few available in the US. I bought this from Vahan at Autoweapons about 10 years ago for $6500 for just the launcher, new old stock. We then fabricated a top barrel band latch for it. It now also comes with a complete M16-A1 upper, the correct handguard and the removable sight. The upper and handguard are $1200 or so in "value." The rear sight I cannot even begin to figure a value for. It is the classic situation where is you need one and the seller know what it is, you will pay $500+. If you find it in a bucket of parts you can get a good deal. I think the price is fair considering I bought a complete M79 for $2500 at the same time that came with a ton of spares. Just one of those things that is really hard to guess. At least if you know it is me selling it you know you are getting what I say it is. -- Trey |

I have not been able to find one yet. I was searching for one when I was searching for parts for the M203. I wonder if a member who does metal work here could make these as props? |

That would be awesome to own |
| 57Octane would be the resident expert on dimensions for the xm148. He and I discussed the 148 a couple years ago. The 148 is one of the more obscure retro items. It would take some serious 3D machining to produce an accurate rendition. I do have a rather large block of aluminum should he ever produce a CAD file of it. |

There was a guy on a Vietnam Airsoft forum who made a half decent copy of one just for display. I sent him a lot of photos, measurements, etc. He was supposed to be making more, but I never say a finished product. Do you still have those? It would be great if we could find someone to make replicas. If you have them I would love the files. |

Stoner, I was speaking with Vahan as he is the one who had the "most" 148's that he put into the market. Best guess was around 6 or 7 total in the registry. MOMIL, my comment mentioning 57Octain as an "expert" was only to the extent that the regulars here know him as a scrounger of old manuals, blueprints, etc. Finding ANY information on the xm148, at least for those of us not fortunate enough to be in the "ownership loop, is very limited. I wish that I had the expendable income to buy your 148, although I don't know what I'd do with it. I have collected some of the parts for a 203, and have the drawings for it should I go forward with it......but still.......what does one do with a launcher? If HE rounds were available I'd be all over one,..........that would be fun." |

My original model wasn't capable of being translated into CAD for 3D printing or any other work. I had to remake it in different software. As I was doing that, I came across a real, complete, barrel assembly and it threw all my previous work askew. I just haven't had time to get back to it fully since then. I haven't forgotten though.
The XM-148 is definitely my "holy grail" of Vietnam era weapons. |
