Cool, in for the story.

Not to be "that guy" but doesn't the ATF consider a baffle a supressor even if not installed in a tube? Just wondering if it's supposed to be a de-mil if it's de-milled enough? I've seen pics of them with the baffle stack cut as well.

Like I said, not to play junior G man or anything just hate to see somebody run afoul of a dumb law.

what is the OAL of the inner part?   I am wondering how it compares to the 3.5" 607 moderator. I've seen it said that the 177 mods were the 607 mod with the addition of the flash suppressor cuts added. That would mean that the inner section of yours should be about 3.250 or so????
Thanks.

That's so cool. Thanks for the pix. Amazing what a couple pieces of metal can cost (I'm guessing a couple grand)

Is that the same set I see in a display case at Knob Creek and the SAR show?

Back in the "day" when BATF determined the moderators were a silencer as they imparted a SPL insertion loss of greater than 2 dBA, Thus they had to be register.... Many chose not to do so with the extra tax stamp and a group were machined into the cross sectional examples that are now seen occasionally.  ATF approved demill with at least two 07 MFG's I know of.... I'll bet there are more out there...My old friends did at least 10-15 as my feeble old mind can recall..  I'll check on the exact details and advise.  I think a few may be left with one of the "old guys"

I'm going to take a Early FSB and XM177 Brl stub screw it on and mount it to a ashtray for my library.  WTF a high buck ashtray is just what I need!!! 80's Retro 'Trench' Art?

Just had a call with one of the guys from the day and he reminded me that BATF came to a later agreement with Colt to cover the tax stamps on a portion of the moderators as single items or registered with the original guns commercial (635?) and GI guns....
