| I'm doing my first build and I was wondering what everyone's expierence is with the YHM Customizable Free Float Handguard. Basically I like that i can add rails to certain sections, specifically a full length rail to the top and a 3" to the bottom leaving the sides smooth for grip. Im looking to install the "Specter" length on my carbine which will allow the covering of the low profile gas block. I like the idea that you can add or subtract but I'm just not sure how this is for vibration or a lateral force on a foregrip compared to built in rails by machining. Please chime in if you have expierence or are running this setup currently. My other option was the YHM "Smooth" Free Float Handguard which have the rails machined in. |

I have a smooth on my RRA 16" varmint and haven't had any problems with the rails at all. I would suggest that you use locktite for the screws as i didn't and lost one on a coyote hunt and the rail was swinging around with my bi-pod dragging in the grass and sagebrush. |

Thanks guys, the other one ive been looking at is the midwest industries free float ss. Has a machined top rail but can add to the sides and bottom. Really i just want a bottom rail close to the mag well for a foregrip Check out the customizable apex handguards. I own the mid length and rifle length handguards and I really like them. |
