YHM Rail

I'm looking for a free float rail to put on one of my AR's, and I ran across these Yankees.  I want it to cover my low profile gas block I have so I was thinking of the mid length.  What do you guys think of the YHM float rails?  Thanks for the opinions!!

They are good. The new Diamond series came out not too long ago and from what I gather, it is the best of the YHM line.

I have one of their Diamond series on a 10.5" SBR.

I didn't much care for them in the past.  But the new Diamond series has the top rail mate to the upper for a continuous top look.

Me likey!

They are decent enough. Some people will trash them because they aren't one of the big name companies. I had them on two of my rifles and liked them quite well. The gripe I have is the finish isn't strong and doesn't match as well as the big companies. With that being said: Go with DD!

They make a solid, economical rail.  I had some issues installing a Tangodown VFG but after removing some material I got it installed.

If I could do it over again I'd save up more and get a DD Omega, it's awesome.

Thanks for the replies.  I really like the diamond series.  I have a 16" barrel and I want it to cover the low pro gas block and was wondering if the mid length would do that?  Or do I need a Specter?

Between my shooting buddies and mine, II have installed about 15 of them. I really like them.

I have them on both of my rifles and have zero complaints.

LOVE my YHM Diamond rail. Spectre length is perfect to use on a 16in carbine barrel with low profile gas block and you want the gas block covered.

I been wondering if I sawed off my front "F" sight and use it for just a gas block if the diamond series would fit over it nicley and cover it.  Let say a 10" rail over a carbine gas system, pretty sure it will just wondering if anybody knows for sure.

Also dHUTCH, is that a magpul pistol grip?  How's that feel?

You'd have to take off your sling swivel too.  You may need an 11" to cover up the whole front sight, not sure though.  Take a tape measure to it real quick.  What kind of rail are you looking at?

Just got mine on there about a month ago.  I love it.  I paid 145 for that and the end piece and he installed it right there.

Ok forgot about the swivel, like my side swivel hate to loose that too, was just wanting a flip front sight.  I got a rear YHM flip BUIS thats seems good. Maybe a 2 pc rail then, carbine length. Those pics above looks good.

I've got one of the older ones (before the locking screws....) and it's never budged - but then again, it is REALLY tight. I'm not sure I was supposed to tighten it as much as I did.

Have the diamond series on a Carbine with the front cover.  No complaints and reasonable.  No gap on the top rail which is very nice and makes it look "all of a piece".  Also very stable.

For the price, it's gtg.

Have the mid-length standard free-float version.  Suits me and my needs just fine.  Didn't realize how heavy it'd be when I had it installed on the gun.

Didn't like the looks of the lightweights but that diamond version looks cool.  Consider the weight issues it will add.  I was advised to go with the light weight model but didn't.  Now, I wish my rifle was a little lighter.

Anyways...I'd recommend YHM.  No problems with mine.

Yeah they can be a little heavy, but i think that all rail systems add a good bit of weight.

Adds a little more something for your hand to wrap around when you're shooting. The angle of it isnt much different than your standard A2 grip but I find the A2 grips to be a tad bit too skinny for my liking. I like the little compartment inside that holds random stuff.

Any more pics of installed YHM rails? I'm considering one as well.
