| So I just received my stamp for my first suppressor (YHM phantom 5.56) and it says to torque to 20-30 ft/lbs. I had it torqued to 30, and within 5-7 times of removing the can, the mount just unscrewed with the suppressor. I gave YHM a call, and they said (guy on phone sounded pretty annoyed about my questions) that I could apply some lock tight, or to torqe it more. I replied by asking "doesn't it specify that my warranty is void if any type of thread locker is used?" and his answer in short was "yes" (WTF?). Anyway... what have you guys torqued your phantom mounts to, to ensure it doesn't come loose? |

Ye olde suppressor section You should definitely secure the mount to the rifle with Rocksett. All I can imagine he was referring to when he said don't use it was putting it on the threads that interface between the can itself and the mount. But on the mount to gun threads, definitely use some. Mine (QD flash hider mount) is mounted with Rocksett and I'm gonna presume ADCO tightened it well.

YHM will void the warranty (at least for the mount, which isn't a big deal) if I use any type of thread locker to secure the mount. But if you have any type of warranty repair on the can (as far as I know) they need you to also send the mount to make sure the threads on the mount weren't messed up and caused the failure of the can its self. Correct me if I'm wrong.
ETA: how does one go about removing a muzzle device installed with rocksett? |

I have a PWS qd mount that works on the YHM but is has to be timed so i will have to use crush washers |

NEVER use a crush washer for a suppressor mount. Someone sticky that sentence. They crush unevenly and can cause baffle strikes. Use peel washers. Use a lighter and razor blade to separate the layers to different thicknesses. It takes a while to get it close, even longer to be perfectly timed and torqued. Without special tools you will probably get it +/- a degree or so. |
