I know there are a ton of muzzle brake/flash suppressor threads but havent found anything on these two. Does anyone know anything about these muzzle brakes? just curious I am about to replace my Clinton barrel and put on an m4 light and am just looking for something that is effective for medium range and reducing hop. (noise isnt an issue, my hearing left me about 3 years ago)hanks |
If you can't hear, than the Y comps might be just the ticket for you. All I know about them is that they're loud as hell, and I believe they're pretty decent at what they do. That said, I believe that there are better brakes and comps out there, I would think someone who does 3-gun type stuff would be the best person to ask about that kind of thing. I'm a flash hider kind of guy, myself. |
| Back in the ban days, my first AR ever was a 20" Bushmaster with a pinned Y-Comp. Looked cool, shot soft, but holy crap was it loud for the guy standing next to you. No real reason to get one other then looks, as there are better brakes out there if that is what you want. |
| What? What did you say? Can't hear you! I just got done shooting my AR with a 14.5 inch barrel and a mini Y comp. Can't hear a damn thing! Yes, I had my ear muffs on, and plugs, too! Nope, still can't understand what you're saying! Maybe in a few hours when my ears stop ringing, we can talk! |

I had a mini-y comp for about... umm... 60 rounds or so. Then I sold the upper, it was very effective for reducing felt recoil, but not only the guys to the left and right of me, but even ME while shooting, just... WOW... loud... ETA: Now my old style JP Recoil Eliminator? That makes it loud to the left and right, but as the shooter it doesn't bother me at all.

I have a perm / pinned mini Y on my Postban Bushmaster and hate it. It is incredibly loud! I made the mistake of shooting one round off with no ears on and it was one of the worst things I have done to myself.![]() I also would like to hear some feed back about the Troy Medieval Muzzle Brake PWS, or the Yankee Hill Phantom Comp/Brake. |
