Started my AR-15 build. So far, I have the LPK, LR, stock, mags, BCG and charging handle. The lower build went fine this morning, no mars on the receiver or anything. However, the bolt catch spring seemed to be out of spec, as it was a little wider on one of the sides of the spring, which prevented it from going into the hole for the bolt catch. I'm not sure if this is how it's supposed to be since it's my first build and my little hands-on experience with ARs, but I had to squeeze the spring with pliers to get it to fit in, which seems to work fine now and be under spring pressure, but I don't have an upper to test it. I'll be ordering an extra spring when I order my upper just in case. My parts list so far is
Predator Customs Stripped Lower Receiver(it's a rebranded Sabre Defence) RRA LPK BCM Milspec m4 stock kit Magpul Pmags x 3 BCM Full auto m16 BCG BCM milspec charging handle I plan on getting the BCM Midlength 16" upper with troy rear battle sights. I'll probably just get some oval handguards until I can afford a Larue/DD Lite. | I was afraid of that but on the diagrams of the LPKs, the bolt catch spring is slightly shorter than the disconnector spring, and in my LPK there were two springs similar in length, but one was slightly shorter, so I used that for the Bolt catch spring. Maybe I'll buy a disconnector spring too... |

That was probably it then, thanks for the clarification. I just ordered a three pack from Brownells. When you get your new springs make sure the larger end of the disconnector spring goes down into the trigger you got to push it with a little force but it will fit. if it is reversed you may have problems. IMHO putting together a lower is the way to go, you learn so much about the platform it make the little problems seem easy when all is said and done. My next one I am going to build the upper also. good luck have fun and Welcome to the board. |
