For an accurate AR15 more so than a battle rifle

Is a Young Manufacturing National Match BCG worth the money?

I am not sure your bolt carrier group really is that important in the grand scheme of things

but I like it

seems trigger and free floated barrel are where the accuracy is. Everything else is just personal taste

well, it's easier to clean.

in the ar15 scheme of things, the barrel (especially the crown) and ammo are the most significant factors in benchrest accuracy.

Calling a bolt carrier "National Match" is snake oil selling.

The ONLY function of the bolt carrier is to correctly guide the bolt into the receiver extension and rotate it to lock it.

IIRC, a member issued a challenge awhile back for anyone to prove that a carrier has ANY effect on accuracy.

I don't shoot matches but my rifles seem to prefer the YNM full auto carrier for some reason

I have the "regular" Young chrome BCG.

When deciding between regular and NM, research told me that the difference between the two is tolerance.

The NM will be a tighter fit in the upper (closer to spec) and that supposedly contributes to greater accuracy.

That's what I read.

YMMV

which upper do you have, and how close is it to print?  and -- what is the temperature, as the aluminum upper expands faster than the steel carrier.  ...
