I just bought a new bushmaster XM-15 20 in. target rifle.  I zeroed it in with the instructions given to me in the manual.

I came across other zeroing procedures that people on here seemed to like better.  They are here.

I don't really understand how this works.
I put my sight wheel on 8/2, and I see the allen screw hole in the top of the handle, like the instructions say.  It says loosen it 3 turns.  The directions then say to keep allen wrench in screw, and raise sight wheel 2 clicks.

This seems impossible.  The allen screw hole moves with the sight wheel.  How can I possibly keep the allen wrench in the screw and move the wheel at the same time, then tighten the screw?

Can somebody who has done this procedure help me out?

Thanks a lot!

Your wheel is a two piece design.

The top has the set screw and numbers, the bottom is the threaded portion.

Loosen the allen head screw, then turn the very bottom of the wheel. The wrench in the socket/upper hole keeps the top section from turning.

Thanx a lot!  I tried it out and it worked perfectly.
