Hey all I need to zero my new reflex 2.  Sorta following the instructions on the maryland ar15 site, If i where to zero this unit at 50yds to give my normal battle sight like my irons and now defunct aimpoint camp where, I zero using the entire triangle as an aimpoint then set 2 clicks down for a carbine length barrel and use the tip as an aimpoint in the 50-250 m range correct, with the entire triangle outside of that?

Thanks
Mike

Mike,
Check around the MDAR15 site, I think they used to have a copy of the manual for the Reflex II in there somewhere. Had some interesting stuff about ranging with the reticle. Look around for it, its useful for sure.
Ahh, the Santose Improved Battlesight. You're on the right track man. It takes advantage of the bullets trajectory and provides a very flat shooting rifle.
Use the very tip of the triangle for sight in at 50 yds dead on. At 0 yds the bullet is 2.5 inches below line of sight. At 50 its right at the triangle's tip. Just place the whole triangle on and shoot when its up close target time. Bullet impact will be somewhere within the triangle. 50yds and more use the tip of the triangle, all the way out to 220 yds(second line of sight crossover, 2nd dead on impact point) and point of impact will be no more than 2 inches different than point of aim through that distance.(I believe that occurs at approximately 125 yds, 2 inches above aiming point. Dont have exact figures in front of me, just guestimating.)
I use this exact setup(irons and Trigicon at the same point of impact) on my carbine and really enjoy the accuracy it produces. You get used to a little holdover or under for really precise shots. But its much better than the standard sight in methods I think.
Some people sight in their irons with the Santose method and then sight in their Reflex with the Army or Marine standard so they have two sighting systems to use. To each his or her own. Try em both and use what works for you. Good luck and enjoy your new sight!

are you doing the 2 clicks down after you zero at 50?

Nighthawk-
YOU ONLY do the 2 click down WHEN YOU ZERO AT 25 METERS!  This gives a 300M zero (for the center of mass of the triangle).  If you use the tip of the triangle the bullet stays withing 2" of the tip from 50M to 225M (very similar to the Santose IBSZ).

However if you want to zero at 50 yards then just zero at 50 yards with the tip of the triangle at the desired point of impact. DO NOT ADJUST any extra clicks. If you then use the tip of the triangle as a pointer your round will be within 2" of the point of aim from 8M to 220M.  At close ranges all you need to do is place the triangle COM on the target (like a dot) and squeeze.

If you are talking about the Aimpoint being your doorstop, and unloading cheap, heck yeah... let me know!
