Yes (with pics).   I originally did the cut down on this but it was cleaned and refinished up by ADCO when they reprofiled the barrel. It worked great. Not that now low profile gas blocks are moving to pinned on versions (versus the set screw). Well, that's essentially what you've got here. The only downside is that you can't slip a LaRue rail over them (I figure I would've had to remove more metal around the pins than I was comfortable doing).
