I am curious as to what loads some of you reloaders use in your ARs.  What powders have you found to work best?  How much powder do you use?

varget, h4895, RL15 are popular with competition shooters with heavy bullets

http://www.hodgdon.com/data/rifle/223rem.php has data for a few loads

ball powder such as w748 works with light bullets <=55gr, but not so well with heavier bullets

Every gun is its own magical beast, but my standard loads use AA2230C pushing a 55gr. bullet. I load light, usually around 24gr. in mixed cases. I used CCI400 primers.

For accuracy, I like Hornady Vmax in front of Varget, with CCI benchrest primers.

I've been using 24.5gr of Varget with mixed brass, CCI primers and 55gr Hornady Amax bullets.  The load shoots great through my SPR, I've just been too lazy to reload much because the cheap American Eagle ammo shoots nearly as well.

I've used BLC-2 for years.  25.0 to 27.0 grains has given excellent accuracy in a US military case under a 55 grain bullet in 1 in 9 twist barrels.

26.5gr of Varget with 60gr Hornady V-max gets me some pretty good groups

AA2230C, too.

In the past I have also used BL-C2 with good results.

for my plinking and stocking ammo i use 55gr remington sp ( cheapest thing around) from midway and 24gr of accurate #68. i also have some with 2230c. it would take too much to list my match loads. every barrel has its own favorite food.

I use H335, and Win 748 mainly.

Ball powders meter SO much better through
a powder measure than the extruded types do.

Fav load is a 52 Gr Calhoon Dbl HPBT with 26.5 of H335.
