| Sorry for another newbie question.... If I have my rife zeroed at a certain distance with 5.56 ammo (say 55 grain) and I switch to .223, should I expect my bullet to hit low with the .223 vs 5.56 due to the different charge? |

Assuming youre going from 55gr 556 to 55gr 223, then theoretically you should have a slightly lower muzzle velocity and ultimately have a lower POI. With that said, I highly doubt you would see a noticeable difference at anything less than 150m. I usually practice for competitions (targets under 100m) with 55gr 223 and 556 interchangeably and I've never had an issue. If you're trying to hit a golf ball at 400m, you might want to redo your ballistics chart for the ammo change. |
| You could have a point of impact change between any two given loads for any number of reasons. It'll likely be minimal if all you're doing is going from a 55gr 5.56 load to a 55gr .223 load, but the only way to know what the shift is and how big is to try it out. |
