By my question, you can probably tell I'm new to the AR community. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get an upper in .22-250? I love this cartridge for when I go Varmint hunting, but have yet to see it avaiable in an AR platform. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I believe the cartridge is too long for a standard ar receiver.

From what I understand they opened up the magwell by removing some material to clear the longer round. Still works with 5.56 mags and uppers, special mags for .22-250 upper.

Does anyone have any personal experience with one? Any reviews?

Armalite used to sell one on the AR-10 platform....the case taper of the 22-250 proved to be problematic feeding.....didn't offer them very long....guys that shoot the AI had better luck with the more straight case.....

No feedback or suggestions on the Olympic other than the case taper is gonna be the same....

Hearing this, makes me think of looking another direction, and instead of going with the .223, I might make the switch to the 6.8 SPC. Might do a little more damage to the Coyotes, but I hope to be able to get some pig hunting in soon, and think this is a better choice. Thanks to everyone for their input. Now when it comes to the 6.8 SPC, I see that Palmetto State Armory shows one in stock with no BCG or Charge handle. Why do you think this is the only upper available anywhere? I have the money for it, but really shlouldn't. But if that upper is a nice one, I think I will go for it and take the scolding later. Decisions, decisions.
